MYP Years 3-5 + DP Math AA/AI
IB Maths Tuition
Overview
How I approach IB Maths
IB maths requires more than completing a chapter list. Students must explain reasoning, connect methods to contexts, and show work in a way that matches criteria. In MYP, I help students understand the four criteria and build confidence with investigation-style questions, unfamiliar contexts, and written mathematical communication. Many students can calculate an answer but struggle to justify the method or interpret the result. In DP, the approach changes depending on AA or AI. AA students need stronger algebra, functions, trigonometry, proof, and calculus because the course is more abstract and suits engineering or science pathways. AI students need modelling, statistics, technology use, financial maths, and interpretation because the course is application-heavy. My classes combine concept repair, worked examples, independent solving, and discussion of how to present thinking. I also pay attention to calculator habits and notation. The aim is not just to get through the syllabus, but to make the student comfortable with IB-style questions where the route is not obvious at first glance.

Personalised Maths Programme
Small batches of 3-5 students, ₹8,000-30,000/month. See full pricing.
Common Gaps
Students solve routine problems but freeze when the same idea appears in an unfamiliar context.
Written explanations are too thin for MYP criteria or DP method marks.
Calculator use is either avoided or overused without interpretation.
Functions, algebra, and graph sense often decide performance in both AA and AI.
